Extended Hours at Bobst

Exams and the end of the semester are just around the corner.

Bobst is extending hours on floors 1-10 until 3am and in the Computer Center until 1am. Please see the complete detail below.

  • December 8 (at 12:01am) through December 21
    Floors 1-10 extended study hours, 7am – 3am
  • December 10 — 13
    The Library Computer Center (Lower Level 1), open 9am – 1am
  • December 17 – 20
    Lower Levels 1 & 2 will continue to be open 24 hours during this period.

Posters from the Spanish Civil War: Exhibit and Reception

On Wednesday December 5, (6 pm – 8pm) there will be a reception in the Bobst Gallery for “Art and Politics: Posters from the Spanish Civil War, 1936 – 1939.” Professor Jordana Mendelson from the Spanish Department, who teaches a course “Exhibiting Spain,” will be giving a gallery talk.

The Bobst Gallery is located on the Main Floor of Bobst Library.

Professor Mendelson is the curator of “Other Weapons: Photography and Print Culture during the Spanish Civil War” that is on view at the International Center of Photography.

Collections & Research Services will be holding the Bobst Book Sale in the CRS Conference Room in the corridor of the East Mezzanine on Thursday, December 6.

We have a selection of used books available on a multitude of topics.
Books priced at 50¢ or $1.00. Proceeds will benefit the Bobst Library Endowment Fund.

This event is open to members of the NYU community.

ABC Clio History Databases Now from EBSCO

America History and Life and Historical Abstracts, formerly from ABC Clio, are now available via the EBSCO platform. Complete content is available, plus the following EBSCO features:

  1. Combine searches with over a dozen other EBSCO databases
  2. Set journal tables of contents or “saved search” alerts and get new results delivered to you by email or RSS
  3. Use EBSCO’s visual search: search efficiently across broad subjects, and get a visual map of results, organized by topic.
  4. Save a “persistent URL” for a citation, and paste it into BlackBoard.

NYU STUDENTS: NEED HELP GETTING STARTED WITH YOUR RESEARCH FOR A PAPER?

Bobst Library is providing one-on-one research assistance for NYU students who want help locating library materials relevant to their topic. Students are invited to make an appointment with a librarian who will assist you in developing an individualized research strategy for your topic.

HOW DO I MAKE AN APPOINTMENT:

There is no telephone or in-person registration.

WHEN ARE THE CLINICS BEING HELD?
Monday through Thursday, October 29 - November 8, 2007. The specific times are indicated on the registration form. Appointments last about 25 minutes.

WHO ARE THE RESEARCH CLINICS FOR?
This service is designed for undergraduates but any NYU student (except Law, Medical and Dental School students) is welcome to sign up.
