Public Talk on NYU’s Data Services

Friday, January 12, 12-1PM
Bobst Library – Avery Fisher Center, East Room (2nd floor)

The data services group at the library would like to invite everyone to a presentation by veteran data professional, Frank Lopresti, manager of the Statistical and Social Science group within the Academic Computing Services of Information Technology Services (ITS) at New York University. Frank will talk about support services offered in statistical computing and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) at NYU.

For a preview of some of the exciting projects the lab undertakes, see the article, “Unlocking Antiquity Using GIS Technology”, in the latest ITS Connect magazine to learn about a recent Geographic Information Systems project in archaeology conducted in Aphrodisias, Turkey. This talk will be the first of several that the data services group will schedule over the spring 2007 semester – stay tuned for a list of additional dates and topics.
