Search over 300 Years of Articles with PIO

Periodicals Index Online (PIO) is the new name for Periodicals Contents Index – a database of millions of article citations published in the arts, humanities and social sciences, across more than 300 years.

Searches in PIO are now enhanced with NYU Libraries’ “SFX” services links. With SFX links, you can connect to full text or do instant lookups in BobCat for articles in print or microform. In addition, you can link directly to Interlibrary Loan for articles not available at NYU.

Periodicals Index Online currently indexes over 15 million articles going as
far back as 1665 and every article in each journal is indexed, from volume 1
issue 1 to recent times.

Cataloguing in Periodicals Index Online is not limited by language or by
date. Over three centuries of scholarly publication in 40 languages and
dialects are indexed, including English, French, German, Italian, Spanish
and other Western languages.
