Help us kick off a new school year by joining us at our Annual Graduate Student Reception. It is a great opportunity to meet your subject librarian, as well as mingle with your fellow graduate students over some complimentary food and drinks. We will be giving away NYU Bookstore gift certificates to three lucky attendees. The reception will take place:

Please RSVP by going to

We are also offering a series of Graduate Student-focused workshops, where you can learn everything from how to organize your bibliographies, to how to track down those tricky citations, to how to be a more effective research assistant (and much more). For the complete listing of these sessions, and to sign up, go to:

As a new or returning Graduate Student at NYU, you should know that we have been working hard over the past two years to expand and improve our services and spaces to fit your needs, and we hope you’ll help us keep improving.

We look forward to meeting you and wish you the best of luck this semester!

Service Interruptions at Bobst Sat. July 18

July 17, 2009

There will be a service interruption at Bobst this Saturday, July 18. It will only affect the lower levels and the first floor. Here is the detail.

Due to the lower level construction:

— Electrical power will be unavailable on Lower Level 1 from 7am – 4pm — computer classrooms and computers on this floor only will be unavailable

— Internet and BobCat access (including wireless) will be unavailable from 2-4 pm on the Lower Levels and the first floor

All the floors will remain open, but you may want to consider using another area in Bobst Library for your work. What this means for you:

1. If you were planning on using one of the computer classrooms or computers on Lower Level 1 you’ll need to check out a laptop from the computer center. Laptops can be used throughout the library and have internet access as well as Word, Excel and Powerpoint.

2. If you were planning on plugging in your own laptop on Lower Level 1, you’ll need to relocate to another floor in Bobst.

3. If you need access to BobCat or the Internet from 2-4pm, you’ll need to use a computer on floors 2-4

We apologize for any inconvenience.
